So sad - watch this video :(

only watched first few seconds what i would like to do to them!! animals not likely to wnt to please them are they

Absolutely awful. But not sure exactly what their point is - take away bridles and your horse will perform grand prix movements? My horse's needs come before everyone else and that includes my children because generally they are able to get themselves a sandwich, put another layer of clothing on etc themselves, especially with a bit of verbal encouragement! My horse was skeletal when I bought him earlier this year having raced successfully to September the year before. He raced in Hong Kong and hurdled here. He was sold for 58,500 guineas as a yearling - whoever bought him obviously thought he was worth that amount but didn't bother to see what happened to him after his racing career when he was a shadow of his former self

That made me cry so much! But that man and horse at the end are beautiful and that made me cry even more. I dont understand why people have to be so cruel. And rolkur SHOULD BE BANNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm...Obviously thats sad and wrong but I hate emotive videos like that, why does it need to be dressed up beyond what its already showing on its own? Also, not to start a horse slaughter debate again but one of the clips was of a healthy looking horse being captive bolt gunned, not really abuse.

Is the first few clips the old "Sacking out" method? Used to break a horse? Not justifying their actions, just asking as i've never seen the method, and have a feeling that might be it

Reckon so Brontie, hobble it and break it down is obviously the best way to get an animal to do what you ask :) Actually still quite a common method in a lot of the world as I understand it?

ponyiamnotfood - I agree with the healthy horse bit not being abuse, it was really just the bit at the beginning with the beating that annoyed me :(

sadly in all walks of life there are bullies and that is what they are - I despise seeing an any animal thrashed and abused - my beautiful mare is a legacy of a bully and I despise it

isnt that in the film horse whisperer?

I have read a couple of Monty Roberts books and in one of them he talks about the film the Horse Whisperer, He didn't agree with everything in the film and actually walked out of the screening as they had put that in as a way to get horses to do what you want them to do and he had specifically asked them not to do it.

Awareness can only be a good thing surely!
Sorry if it upset you :(

dont mind me I am just a big wuss seeing any kind of animal cruelty, I did not watch it though, would'nt be able to sleep, wish I was not born with this over sensitive care gene sometimes, its painful. I understand the awareness thing.:)

Sacking out is still a popular way to 'break' round-up horses from several Western states, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana to name a few. The reasoning being that you can't get near enough the horse to do any real work but you can get a rope around it.

That's not a defense, by the way. This isn't something Ive ever had to take part in, as we didn't deal in mustangs.
