Some of you may remember me asking about ear infections and the prognosis following an ear ablation, after my elderly Cocker suffered months of infections. Well, we went ahead with the op and all seemed well, she had some basal tumours removed at the same time, but her recovery was great.
Unfortunately a few weeks later more tumours appeared under her ear flap and quickly became infected - there were blue bottles around her at the allotment and I had to wash eggs out ones night - yuk.
Hubby and I agreed to one last op, as she was just so well in herself, but the cost was really starting to add up, we hoped a small lump removal wouldn't be too dear, and she absolutely hates the vets now.
I dropped her off for the op the Tuesday after the bank holiday, only to get a call about half an hour later to say the base of the new tumour was so big, removing it would kill the blood supply to the ear, which would then die and the easiest course of action was to remove the ear.
I agreed, but burst into tears when I'd put the phone down, I'm ashamed to say I was worried about my reaction to LB, not looking like LB. I phone hubby and he later confessed he thought about phoning the vets to say just PTS!
Anyway, she had he op and was soooo keen to come home that night, the staples are now out and she hasn't looked back, for a nearly 14 yro she is amazing, mad, looney and totally loveable, one ear or not she's my Little Bitch..
