Actually far more than that, but I couldn't fit it all in to the title.
A short while ago, a trusted friend of mine began, after discussions, to ride C during the week to keep her happy. She was confident, a good rider, and I was very happy with how good C was looking. I got updates from the friend about how well she was going in the school, and how wonderful she was on hacks. Although it made me feel really pleased, I was a bit upset, because I'd always found C quite difficult, and never the 'easy' horse my friend had described.
Anyway, I battled on, and things got worse and worse. Chloe did some ''bunny hops'' out on a hack, which she'd never ever done before, and I was feeling pretty useless after that, because I'd heard about how wonderful she was for my friend.
I came down one saturday to find, instead of a snaffle on her bridle, a gag on the bottom ring. for schooling. I asked her what on earth was going on, she didn't need this for schooling at all. After that little blip, things went a bit downhill. C was very nervous of even the snaffle, and her behaviour out hacking was worsening, despite what I was being told by my friend. I just didn't put two and two together, because I trusted her. I felt so, so down about the whole thing.
She soon left (quite a few months ago)
Anyway, recently, only in the past month or so, more than one person at the yard began telling me how much she had improved since the X left. I enquired, totally confused, and found out she was making her rear with the gag, and apparently was not the soft, quiet rider she was when I had seen her. I was so upset and angry, as she was making me feel like a terrible rider, and she was ruining my horse. I feel totally cheated, knowing what happened. I am gobsmacked.
It took me a couple of months to get us back on track. Thank god now C seems to be back to her old self - she hacks much better now, doesn't shake terribly when she passes something scary, and hasn't even thought about doing anything like spinning or bunny hops (we've been past those horrible dirtbikes which I posted about a while ago) and I'm feeling on top of the world with her right now. She's even perfectly happy in a gag, only on the 2nd ring down, for hunting.
I just wanted to get it out - I am just speechless. sorry for the rant - just wanted to BLAH it out.
