Yet another self indulgant 'I love Bustiiieeeee' post! I know boring, I apologise!!!
Anywho, he's been in fairly heavy work atm so has had the past couple of days off to just munch in the field, dragged him today last minute decision to take him out and give him a fun jump about the SJ paddock as we've not been in there for weeeeks now.
Started off little and was going to keep it that way, so was just pootling round over little 2ft-ers singley [if that's a word?!], knocked a couple down accidently but was my fault for interfering and checking him when I didn't need to :/ Bad habit! But anywho, jumped everything, the wall, palisade fillers, brush fence, water tray etc, no problems...then thought I'd try doing sneaky last minute jumps with him and jump off turns and jumping him on an angle which I've not really done on him before...but really switched him on and made him think where his feet were! [Our previous posts last year...he was the one I was asking for tips to help pick his feet up rather than plough through the jump lol].
So he kept flying them and I kept putting them up one each time....till I then realised at the end we were actually jumping just over 1m20!!!
And then after this, I let Rushy's daughter on him as she loves him and then she jumped him XD Bless, she's only 11 and can be nervous jumping, but she went ahead and did the water tray, wall, brush fillers and the other jumps on him! And then even took him out on a hack with my and Hairy after. He went into Grandad mode and was on best behaviour -doing the comfiest trot and his slowest smooth canter for her bless him through the fields.
Bless his cottons. I can't beleive how far we've actually come on. I just love him to bits. I'm not the most keen jumper myself anymore and was going to quit jumping all together back at xmas...but he just fills me confidence jumping [in a wierd way!] and I do think we actually make a good team. I've only had him a year now but I do actually absolutely love him to bits, wierdness and all!, and he's my perfect horse. [After casspot of course!] I'm so so so glad I ended up with him and am so thankful for him!
I've got some vids I'll link to soon as they're uploaded
