We are selling our beautiful palomino arab x hanovarian mare and had someone come out to try her today, we have put in the add that she is a very forward going ride and the lady was quite happy with it, we were selling her as a happy hack due to a injury she had two years ago but she hasnt had any problems since and is sound and jumping and schooling nicely but she can be strong out although she is in a snaffle, she leaps as though to go into canter she doesnt do this all the time just when she is a bit excited.
Everyone says how stunning she looks and is looking good in the school she is very very showy, we have put in the add due to a injury two years ago she is being sold as a happy hacker but she is'nt not really, she is so much more than that. She is a real push button ride, i know the injury is going to put people off but if she had'nt had the injury/strained her sacrilliac joint. we would be asking so much more for her! we have been told she is up for sale as a really good price but worried that people are getting put off because of the price because off her injury. she would quite happily take someone round a 2ft3-2ft6 course of jumps, Wouldnt want to push her any further just in case, the lady was put off by how fast she was. and generally just wanted her as a happy hacker, she is a clever little mare, and so quiet to handle on the ground, she is only being sold because we want to go on and do more of which we dont want to push her. and mum and me want to go bigger,

I want to change the add so it doesnt sound like the injury is holding her back because it isnt, but i dont know how to word it! would you sell her as a happy hacker?

Maybe say that due to a past injury she needs an understanding rider and has recently done x, y and z. This shows that she's been out and about and that the injury hasnt been an issue for you/her.

I have already got in the add she is able to do riding club activities :/, I think i have just worded it completely wrong. will change it so it says what she has been doing :)

hi,
firstly you must be honest about the injury.

I would say "beautiful showy palomino mare.......... suffered (name injury) in (year). Since then she has been bought back slowly (if she has) and she is capable of doing RC activities, probably a novice 2ft 6 SJ course. However due to her injury she is not suitable for heavy competition work. She would suit a rider moving onto their second horse as she can be quite fast and forward going (if she is). I am looking for a home who can treat her kindly and be sympathetic to her needs.

blah blah blah.

She was definitely bought back in slowly as we didnt want to rush her took us a year to get her back to full work again, we have been very honest over the phone to the people i have slightly tweaked my add, i think i made the injury sound worse over the add by putting happy hacker, but me realizing really what happy hackers do they dont school or jump or take them out to the odd show here and there. :o i didnt really think about that!

My horse has an SI injury - I have been told 2 things, firstly that if he does come back into ridden work he must always be kept fit as the lameness will recurr if he loses the supporting muscle tone and secondly that he will never reach his previous top potential (we are getting LOU for him).
So yes I think you are correct that your horse may well stand up to being so much more than just a happy hacker, but any new owner would need to be very aware and careful of the old SI injury and the limitations this brings.
