Basically everytime me and Merlin attempt cross country its hilarious :D

We either charge around at breakneck speed hunt jumping everything:p or he skids to a halt and i fall off:rolleyes: the next time we attempt a hunter trials!

(luckily we have improved our approach- he's now in a gag xc and ive learnt to sit back and kick on if a stop is on the way :D )

Soo.. on saturday there is an Eventer's Challenge which is jumping an SJ course and then off you pop into XC straightaway- Sj is timed however Xc is not (yay)

AND IM IN A PICKLE WHETHER OR NOT TO GO

d'you think i should brave it, have fun and build up his experience or should i wait until we're consistently clear and i've taken him xc schooling a couple of times??

Go for it! Why not? He's lovely looking! If you don't try it you'll never know what you could be missing out on.

Don't forget to take some pictures and report back though. :)

Good luck :) x

Totally your decision, and the sj sounds good, but I wouldn't advise anyone to go cross country unless they were reasonably confident of it going well and them staying in control. If you do decide to go for it, make the most of the untimed xc session and school him round :)

He looks like he has plenty pop in him!

Aww go for it!! x With it being an eventers challenge it will only be over 10 xc jumps i'd imagine so could be a good starter (and possible confidence boost!) x

If his Showjumping is ok then it could be a good time for him to build his confidence before the xc section.

Let us know how you get on if you decide to go!

Good luck!! x

I'd go for it. He'll be in "jumping mode" after the sj so if you keep your cool, he might just pop round the cross country! Take it steady and it'll be a great education for him. Good luck and keep us posted
