Young TB mare - Ada - we have just been lunging every night for 20mins or so in side reins as having been worked in a bungee and very light or no contact we want her to get used to a feel of something down the reins before starting riding her again. She is just beginning to work properly into the side reins on the lunge now after a week, so plan to carry on with this for at least another week before trying riding her
Older TBxWB mare - Saffy - lunged her Saturday and went to get on her however i could only walk as my bum/legs didn't fit in the saddle she came with!
it was a 16inch childs saddle and i just couldn't move in it!
So lunged her again yesterday in one of my saddles and then rode her and once she had warmed up she was lovely
to ride! Steering is slightly dodgy but considering she hasn't been ridden in 3 months and we don't know what she did before that she was really really good!
So she gets a haircut on Weds (she was sweating some as pretty unfit!) and will be brought back into work properly
So am very pleased with Saffy she is lovely! Ada is coming on nicely on the lunge too though i think she might be a bit harder work .
I have photos of them standing on the yard (couldn't get any ridden/lunge photos) which i will try to put up tonight so you can see.
