Granted I did specifically go to see her as noticed she was a fairly new arrival. My sister and I went yesterday and had a play and today we took my parents' dogs to meet her as (hopefully) my parents will look after her when I am at work at leats until she is settled and able to be left for a bit longer on her own.

She is very sweet but being in the kennels has, understandably, become anxious and her one 'vice' as it were is to get agitated and barking at other dogs when she's on the lead. I am going up tomorrow for some 'training tips' in how to stop this behaviour - any additional tips would be greatly received though! She is fine off the lead, a typical 9 mth old puppy really but I do want to help stop this anxious barking she does - am hoping once she gets some more stability in her life she'll improve anyway.

However, what i would like some help with is a new name! She does come to call but i really am not loving the name Tiny! She is small/medium size (I am thinking manchester terrier x type) but i just don't think Tiny suits her.

Oh and if anyone knows from experience any good dogs clubs in North Leeds that would be great. I know i can find them but I like to go to places off personal recommendations really. I think she definitely needs more socialisation and needs to learn some 'dog etiquette'!
 
Thanks - I think she looks a bit manic i that picture, it's not the best! lol. Cheers for the suggestios - I had toyed with Molly. Think I do want something that ends in y/ie so it still sounds sort of similar for her.

Molly is a good name :D Storm my pup was going to be Molly but my OH didn't like it :o
 
she looks lovely. If she answers to tiny then i would think twice about changing it. She is going to be a bit worried as it is, her last home then dogs trust then another new home, must be unsettling for her. The only thing she will have that is familiar is her name. Up to you but just think it is a bit much for her to deal with. I think Tiny is ok for a name anyway. Good luck with her, she looks sweet.
 
Yeah, I know where you're coming from, so i am thinking if I can sort of sneak another nake in there that sounds similar she won't notice too much! She has been in two homes before going to dogs trust - was 'rescued' from an elderly person who couldn't look after her and taken on by a couple who from the sounds of it were maybe a bit heavy handed with her and scared her a bit i think.They kept her a couple of months but handed her in to the Dogs trust when the woman became pregnant.

I am not that sure her name will have been used that much prior to being at the Dogs Trust. She does respond but I don't know if she 'knows' her name as such and more responds to the tone of the person calling her, if you get what i mean?
 
i went through tha alphabet to see what you could put in front of iny but didn't come up with anything. Goodness she is just a puppy and been in and out of homes, thank goodness she has found a forever mum x
 
I like Molly, also thought about sunny too - due to her sunny personality ;)

I think as long as you have plenty of treats in your pocket, she won't care what her name is ;) :D
 
Can't have Lucy as we had a previous dog called Lucy and she sadly she ended up getting run over so not a good association with that name. Also my sister's friend's dog is called Lucy too! I quite like Molly or Maggie. I just think Tiny is either a name you give to a huge dog or a real tiny one and she is neither! Lol
 
Don't be daft you're not going to have known that. It was a fair few years ago now but I don't think I could give another dog the same name.
 
She looks a lovely little girl, very cute :)

Another name suggestion for you, what about Tilly......bit closer to Tiny and more suitable for a girl dog I think......
 
she looks lovely.....how about bindy or kylie sounds a bit like tiny (or smiley) sorry brain not working too well tonight cant think of anything else, can we have piccies please when you get her?
 
Tilly could be a goer. I may have to wait a little bit (not too long) and see what she suits best when she first moves in!

They brought her round this afternoon as they were concerned she may be too fascinated and obsessed with my guinea pigs. She couldn't have cared less really but blimey was she noisy when she got here as she was so excited/anxious etc! My neighbours will hate me if I don't curb that behaviour quickly! Lol
 
Aww shes lovely she looks exactly like my old dog. She was a rescue and when we had her she was terrified of going out, she would run and hide if we picked up her lead. I live near a park and would carry her over the road to get there, but she soon realised it was fun to go out and loved going to different parks but hated walking near any traffic. She was a lovely dog we had her for almost 14 years until she had a stroke and had to be PTS. I still miss her after nearly 7 years. Wishing you many years of happiness with your new girl.

Well, I thik I have decided on molly after all! Went to see about her behaviour and training issues today and took her for a little walk - tested the new name and she responds. Bless her. I do feel sorry for her as she seems to just want to be happy and skips about but yet she is still very anxious when she sees another dog or when she is unsure and she then starts yapping. I will pick her up on saturday - after I have attended the 'talk' and hopefully, once she's settled down a bit I shall look at taking her to some training and socialisation classes. I think she just needs some stability.
 
Aw she's lovely! :) As for the name change I've just changed the name of an eighteen month old dog that we recently got as it had the same name as my son which was far too confusing! I haven't made the new name anything like the old one and he answers to it with no problems. :)
 
molly suits her:D congrats!

as for the name, it doesnt matter one jot - its all about the tone of voice ;) Mine would answer to anything if you said it in an appealing enough way. The name shouldnt be used for calling her to you anyway, you should use a recall command like 'come'. That way the name can be kept as something thats always positive:cool:
