I cannot mention names :(

I have been helping look after an ill horse for around two months now. I have been feeding twice a day as the horse needed to be fed four times a day and the owner couldnt do it.

It had lost a huge amount of weight due to reason I wont go into. I fed the horse this morning and gave the horse a lovely fuss. As I was leading the horse back to the field I was thinking you lovely animal all you have gone through and your the most kind and gentle thing.

I had grown so attached feeding and fussing twice a day. Just had a call from the owner saying this lovely horse has been put to sleep.

I feel sick, im going to miss this horse so so much

How sad :(

I'm sure the owner is very appreciative for all your help, and i'm sure the horse was too.

It must be so sad, but i'm sure he probably enjoyed the fuss you gave him right up to the end, and the vet mustve felt it was best to have him put to sleep.

Hope youve got lots of memories and photos.

Keep your chin up!

Oh gosh
That's very sad to here :(
My heart goes out to you
Just think he or she is now happy running throw the lush green fields
And when you see the sun creep throw the clouds know that , that is he or she looking down on you :)
You will meet again
Big hugs!!!

Sounds like you gave him a lovely last couple of months, now he'll no longer have to suffer the colder conditions that are set to come.
Could you make a memory box with the owner so you have a sort of keepsake for yourself?
Big hugs xxx

oh that is really sad you did a good job keeping him fed and occupied with his feeds.

I am in that Yo Yo situation at the moment. Yesterday I am thinking mine has not long for the world and today I go and he has completely perked up! Was hoping he would have a few more years but I am now thinking WHEN? I just gave him a nice brush and hay net and popped him back in his field. Its hard work when they are not 100% and sometimes its hard to know what is the right thing to do or when.

They are such kind animals if you get a good one and am really sorry for you but not an easy decision but sometimes the kindest. I am sure the owner was grateful for your kind effort.

Thank you for your kind words.

I would be absolutely awful if it was one of my own horses but this horse had a special place in my heart. This horse had a hard life and wasn't given the attention it needed uptil the last minute. This is why I offered to help.

I just cant believe I will never see this horse again. The horses owner knew yesterday that the horse would be pts today. I just wished I could have said good by this morning :(

Oh bless you how awful. I know you would want to say goodbye, but really, you saw the horse, fed and fussed him and were happy. You would have been upset if you knew what was happening and he may have sensed it. Poor consolation I know.

How lovely of you to have looked after him so well too.

(((Hugs)))

You gave the horse some much deserved attention and I believe he probaly knew it. It may be better that you didnt know as your last time would have been so much sadder - who knows.

We lost one of our beloved horses nearly 3 weeks ago and its still very painful - perhaps the owner was too wrapped up in his/her own thoughts to consider you. Either way its very sad and my thoughts and ((((hugs)))) are with you.

so sorry to hear this. At least you ow you can rest easy that you helped to give this horse a good last few months, where he was fed, cared for and loved.

RIP horsey
