What do I need to know?

I'd like to go out to do hound exercise or whatever they call it now as I've now got a horse capable of taking me and a bit more confidence to get me through the day!

So what will I need to do to go? What do I wear? How do I have to behave? etc.

Season here starts in about October so I've got until then LOL! ;)

For cubbing I would wear beige breeches, long boots, shirt and tie and hacking jacket. You dont need to plait up for cubbing.
Opening meet and thereafter light breeches, stock and hunt shirt, waistcoat, black/navy jacket and long boots. It is considered "proper" to plait up, but check before hand, some hunts are more informal than others. Just smile and take a hip flash with you, within 10 mins you will have all the mates in the world, I promise :D happy hunting xx
 
a no no, No overtaking Field Master. If you can't stop gg turn in large circle away for field and stop that way.
You must yeild at all times for hounds, huntsman, whipper-in and Field Master
 
And NEVER ride on the drill! If brake failure crash into a hedge if possible. We've all been there - probably including the field master at some point!
BUT...you're in Cumbria...don't they hunt on foot up there??

Never turn your horses back end to the hounds
Tie a green ribbon to your horses tail to signify that you are new so that you arent used as a buffer for an out of control horse -
and if the person in front puts the puts thier hand behind their back, showing you their palm it means you are TOO close! Stay back!

That is something i didnt know, I guess I have just never come accross it so thanks for highlighting it for future reference.
