Out of curiousity what would you feed an average-poor doer with soft feet (usually keeps shoes on but has lost one this time as hooves seem to have grown very fast) thats in light work.

Horse is currently turned out 24/7 on good grazing and is just about perfect weight (does have a habit of dropping quickly when weather changes but will be rugged when it comes to it).

So what would **you** feed this horse?

Id be limiting his grass, as poor feet are often a sign of intolerance to sugars, this year has been particularly bad for grass thanks to the warm and wet making it grow like crazy - basically like feeding a child tangfantastics every meal! If poss id put him on a track system so more movement, as this stimulates the hoof growth and less good grass, or put him in a turn out pen/school during the day (when sugars are higher) with soaked hay.

If hoof health is your concern Id add a decent supplement such as Pro Hoof, or Forage Plus in a tiny amount of fast fibre to hide it.

Id also take the shoes off but then Im a member of the barefoot taliban!

Not my horse I'm asking about, I was just curious as to the opinions of others. If said horse was mine I'd want to do things differently but it is not and I'm not going to interfere as horse is happy enough (feet are rubbish but is never lame and is always 'perky'). ;)
