4 of my horses turned out into 23acres on lush cattle grazing, so why are they stood on the big mount of earth we are re landscaping, and why is my coloured eating dirt?

Usually when a horse eats dirt it means they have a mineral deficiancy, especially with this weather!

Thats just horses isnt it.
I think they eat the dirt though to take something bland in as grass is probably a bit rich.
Its like when you eat to much spicey food and you then need something dull to damp it down.
Too much of a good thing.

I did have to giggle though, I called him and he looked up, licked his lips, and his teeth and tongue were just...muddy, bless him.

Nah, it is to do with them eating the minerals in the soil, most horses do it.
