those of you who have 4x4s, how have they been in the snow and ice and what are they?
i have a 306 and its been fab but if it gets any deeper il be walking. i had a hairy moment going to pick my mum up, the main road i live of off doesnt get gritted and i slid down the road, sh!t me up abit. i saw a toyota rav going quite fast have the same problem in the same place as me really loose it, she was just going to fast. i went to look at a freelander the other day, should have bought it haha!!

ive been out playing in my landy defender 110 double cab pick up today. love it in this weather, goes anywhere and through anything

Mine have been fab.
Dad's Touareg is brilliant in ice and snow as it is so heavy plus is permanmently in four wheel drive.
The Shogun is always fab as we can switch between two and four wheel, high and low.
Yesterday I drove the shogun through a ford that was sheet ice on either side. It didn't slip at all. And today I was driving it round the field moving hay about in the snow.

My little rover has been good in the ice but I didn't want to risk it in the snow.

Mine!! My fourtrack has been getting essential feed supplies to our customers who have run out - Our work vans can't make the hills!!!

My Range Rover may be old, hideously unreliable and cost a fortune to run but he's ace is this weather.

no issues at all with my X-trail - the traction control thingywotsit has really saved me from sailing sideways into the gate on quite a few occasions!!

My Subaru Forester has been brilliant in the snow and ice - especially when switched into its low gear ratio. Although couldn't believe some idiot (can't swear on here) bald bloke in an old F reg landie overtook me this morning and threw snow and slush everywhere - I just hope he met a snow drift. He was also body dancing to his radio at the same time. Think he was getting some sort of thrill out of it - saddie. Rant over.

A freelander driven along our icy country road today.....

Seems like I too am better off in my 306. It has been like a little tank and I didn't know it had it in it! Coped brilliantly in our 20cm of snow but don't think it could take any more with its stumpy little wheels!

Got to agree with Tricksy, our P reg Disco hasn't put a tyre wrong. Has even gone through the horses fields (about 2 ft deep in places) to get water to the trough. Love it!

It may be old and battered, and the puppy has chewed through the rear seatbelts, but it's bloody brilliant!

My defender is brilliant, it just keeps going, doesn't seem to notice the snow!!!. Luckily the windows weren't iced this morning as the heater takes ages to get a bit warm, thats if you can get in it as the door locks freeze up too.
Would be difficult without it.

I nabbed the terrano off my parents this morning as they weren't going anyway, we did just fine, ignoring the ****** who decided he had to overtake me in his landy on a stretch with large ditches either side. I wasnt going that slow but I was being careful at 9am this morning!

drove my focus this morning and it took me an hour (normally 20mins) to get to the yard then i couldn't get up the drive. this afternoon we took the xtrail and did it in half and hour and got up the drive

As much as I love the disco's and defenders, my little corsa has done me proud today. Got me to the horses, got me home, then to town for supplies and all in no less than 24cm's of snow where no grit was laid!

My Navara crashed itself on the ice before christmas, then had a Kia Sorento as a courtesy car - what a pile of pants that was! (sorry I know some of you love them but its too backwards and plasticy for me and didnt feel very solid), now have an x trail which did the job!

My Hyundai Santa Fe has been absolutely fantastic in the snow and ice. It has delivered me safely and in comfort through the deep Aberdeenshire snow to the yard, work and the shops. A fabulous 4x4!

Dad's Jeep Grand Cherokee has been great- the quickest route home from the yard is through 2 fords, both of which were very swollen from melting snow etc- jeep dealt with it no probs!

And also meant older sister was able to get back up to uni in Leeds without trouble- whereas when I had to go 25 miles to the orthodontist first thing this morning, Mum's Golf GTI struggled on some very slippery roundabouts and hills- scary!

My Defender 90, it's all toyed up and ready for anything - which is just as well as I have to take eldest twin from home in Norfolk back to Sheffield Uni on Saturday
