Good luck Wishfulthinking! I will cheer you on too. I have no tips, I'm not a showing person, but I will send you some shoeing deadliness and luck too:D

I'm going up! Riding horse. Not really a showing person as such so obviously never had a horse there before. Any hints/tips for a first timer?

Make sure all your vaccs are up to date (every 6 months) and height cert etc if you're in the Small Riding Horses. Don't forget your passport!!!

Have plenty people to help you when you are bringing in the horse, because you only get an hour to unload horse, go through the vet check, get your stable allocated and then unload all your gear.

Be prepared for the atmosphere and make sure your horse is as mannerly and well behaved as possible. Anything with remotely bad behaviour will be gated, so make sure your horse is well worked in and calm.

Good luck and enjoy! :)

Wasnt expecting anything else - will have to pick it up from Post office tomoro so we will see!

We are doing the Coloured class & the Sportsman Hunter class... really looking forward to the experience.

Is it? It must be early so. It's usually closer to the time of the show.
What classes are you in Showpony?

Just realised that I never did an update on 'my' Dublin experience.

Was very lucky to make it as the mare had been quite unwell in the run up and being honest wasn't right when Dublin came round but I had found a way to keep her comfortable and thus made the decision to go while we continued to try and find the root of the problem. Have finally got to the bottom of things nowand thankfully she is on the mend.

All that said we arrived on Tuesday evening for Wednesday and she settled in fine. We were very lucky with the weather and took her for a quick spin round early on Wednesday before getting her polished for her class, the first of the day.

She was an absolute gem for me (even though I rode like a numpty) and looked very well so I was delighted to be pulled in 1st. She doesn't suffer fools so I was keen to see how the ride went. The first judge had a nice spin but the second judge looked to have a less fluid trip. This meant that in the end we finished up 3rd. Still very happy with her especially considering the issues in the lead up and as we all know showing is a funny old game and you never know how things will pan out!
