So why DO dogs hate baths so much?

Been reading a Terry Pratchet book today and it raises this question - seeing that most dogs love to jump in mud, puddles, ponds, lakes etc for a nice paddle or swim, why do they hate baths so much? Outdoors water = good. Indoors water = bad.

Any theories?

No but Pip hates baths but doesn't mind showers. We shower together in a closed cubicle. Maybe its the slippiness or you don't have your massage technique right yet?

Mine loves showers too - in fact she walks voluntarily into the shower cubicle! She also loves swimming but I can't get near with the hose. Warm shower everytime!

Can't help here, mine likes water of ANY variety. Lake, river, puddle, bath, shower, hose, sea... If there's water there you can guarantee that she'll be in it !

She likes baths so much I have to lock her out the bathroom when I have a bath otherwise she jumps in, and yes, I learnt this from one very scarring experience
