Soaking hay for 24 hours?

I want to start soaking my boys hay (fatty) but as i only go up once per day would hay in soak for 24 hours end up going off or all the sugar get re-absorbed ? As i know people generally soak it for 6-12 hours.

It is OK to soak for 24 hours but nearly all vits and minerals will be lost, so you need to make sure he is getting a supplement or a feed of something like Fast Fibre which is very useful, I assume we are talking laminitic or something?

I have been soaking for 24 hours for my laminitic for a good while now and never had any problems. I give it a really good wash off in a wire mesh trolley before I give it to him to get rid of all the brown water and feed him a vit / min supplement to compensate for the lost nutrients. If the water is particularly dark I refill water after 12 hours but this is rare.
