Can anyone recommend some riding socks to go over breeches and under long boots. I have quite wide calves and so can't be anything too bulky.

Oh thanks - I spoke to Derby House yesterday and the only ones they had in stock were the treadstone ones but only in apple green! I suppose they won't show up under my boots so it won't really matter - they do look a bit vibrant!

You get a big pack of 12 knee high socks for just under £16! WAY cheaper than buying the ones from horsey catalogues. And with 12 of them, they last ages. Ive only just bought my 2nd pack now, a year and a half later. They're quite loud colours but under boots or whatever it doesnt matter.
