Taken a few days ago. Confirmed foaled 14.03.1981. Sire, Val de l'Orne winner of French Derby?
Some users will know how bad he was over the winter months, due to how he 'was cared for' by my father who owns him. I groom him, fly spray and feed him and rug him appropriately, and get the farrier for him. I hope I'm making him happy and 'wanted'. I'm pleased with the old boy, but I do feel this has to be his last summer, am just hoping my father doesn't repeat his actions this winter, it would be sad to see him deteriorate again to that extent.
We did have a scare the other day - a minor both nostril nose bleed. Nothing I could do, I told father and 'horse is fine, don't worry'. Nothing more since, so good.

Not bad for a very old TB man!?

He isn't sound, can't really canter without 'bunny hopping' but doesn't seem in pain and isn't depressed - like he was in the winter. He does a lap of the field when the other two have a gallop about, then stands and waits for them to finish. He loves his girl friends, and stands guard over the filly when she has a snooze!

He's looking good!
If he has a repeat nose bleed, I'd be tempted to get the vet and discuss the fees with Dad later. If vet finds nothing serious, probably only a callout fee to pay, if he finds something serious, it's a good argument for dad to foot the bill.

Bless him, he's a bit of a funny shape here and there but you have him looking well for his age, credit to you!

He looks in pretty good nick for an old 'un, especially given the problems there were over the winter. Hope you can persuade your Dad to do the right thing this year.

Well done you!!! I was incredibly proud that my old girl reached the age of 35 happy and healthy. Having them still around and enjoying life in their senior years is as much as an achievement as being placed in a class with a young'un. May he have many more happy years to come. xx

Well done you he looks smashing, feel for you on the other issue maybe you will have to just do what is right then argue it out afterwards.

He looks fantastic...and proud too..lovely gentle old boy..I hope he continues from strength to strength..well done:)

I had to do the sums there and wow, well done he looks amazing for that and having got him through a poor winter.

All credit to you for getting him back on track. Re the winter, this would be very underhand, but possibly best for the horse could you make the necessary arrangements and let your dad know he passed in the field if the honest route is going to cause the horse another winter of discomfort? I'm not sure if this is something i could even do myself but it's an idea :(
