Anyone got suggestions for a super soft collar for my JRTx patterdale? Everything I've used so far rubs all his hair off! So far the best one (still rubs) has been a neoprene lined one, but we've also tried soft flat leather, canvas and nylon. I'm not into flash stuff, and was considering a rolled leather collar, but I worry that the seam is usually on the inside, and I don't want to spend more money on collars that I can't use.

If we're home I take his collar off, but when we're working, I worry about him escaping when the dog walker arrives and have no ID.

All tips gratefully received!

for my short haired dog I found a rolled leather worked best-you can get reasonable ones from Heritage on Amazon. Generally I've found neoprene/fabric/nylon ones do rub hair.

Everything rubs my greyhound! I feel your pain!
It was suggested to me to use a fleece collar but even that rubbed her.

I also leave it off whilst i'm around, but use this https://www.petiquettecollars.co.uk...s/products/traditional-closed-loop-tag-collar when I know my partner's father is popping in or when she is out the house

I still have to be careful though as the ID tag still rubs her! but I can't use an embroidered collar as they rub her!

My spaniel also has one and they are really handy. only thing is you can't attach a lead, but I use a slip lead or harness for the spaniel and either a martingale collar or harness for the greyhound

I bought a lovely leather one off the pets pyjamas website. It was padded leather, and very soft on the inside. About £13

Wow! Now I really want a cremedemonthe hand rolled collar- what stunning work! I'm actually at the point now where I would rather pay 'big' money for a collar that will work for him and last than every month try a new type, so I might try and find a proper hand rolled one...

I bought a rolled leather collar for my long-haired collie cross from Esb leather. Well made as explained by Cremedementhe. Invisible stitching with flat seams.

B..r. just remembered last time we discussed saddlery and mentioned names somebody complained.

That was only because CdM picked up on the difference between handmade, hand crafted, and real quality work. He has pretty high standards, it wasn't really unfair criticism as obvious from that person's website that what he was saying was right, as the company involved openly said they did some things to keep prices down a bit. Personally I have learned loads about leatherwork from him :)
