I noticed tonight that my other ponies frogs are ok but my big lad with the feet issues has very soft frogs to the point that I can press them and they are all spongy. His back frogs seem ok but it's his front which just aren't building up. He's out in his field from 6am - 5pm and it's quite muddy and wet but due to work I can't bring them in earlier. Any tips? I lunged him tonight and he wasn't overly keen as I think his feet being soft is starting to get to him. I'm washing them when he comes in to keep any nastys at bay. If I press his frogs I get no reaction at all but they are so soft. I'm walking him on concrete in the evenings and riding at week ends in boots but his frogs are not improving at all. They are shreading at the mo and I have to cut little flaps off. Any thoughts?

One of mine is exfoliating frog and sole at a rate of knots atm - everytime I pick her feet up they look different! Im just cleaning, spraying with silvetrasol and packing with field paste every 2 or 3 days.

If you're very worried about you boys you could boot for turnout providing the boots dont twist / rub - make sure you disinfect the boots/pads to make sure theyre not cooking bacteria.

Sorry, it's Gold Label Frog Oil Spray, smells like Stockholm tar. It's an extra strong anti fungal solution that should clear up any problems in a week. After that, I suggest you use Red House Field Paste as maintenance.

Good luck, this wet, mild weather is sh$te for hoof problems.

I'm treating the old boy I ride who's rear feet are the same as you describe. Very spongy and shredding. His fronts are nice and hard. I'm using cider vinegar and tee tree as advised by a few peeps on here. His are smelly though so pretty sure it's thrush. Either way I don't suppose it'll do him any arm. :)
