Soft heel bulbs

Courtesy of the revolting weather my grass kept horse has soft heel bulbs.

I’m looking for suggestions of products I can put on to help. (Preferably “household” items rather than anything with horse on the label and expensive!)

I have read stockhome tar may do the trick

Is it an issue? I ask because sometimes it can be, sometimes it isn't at all.

My sister's pony has this too. Went very lame on a hind leg a couple of days ago and her leg swelled. I suspected abcess or cellulitis but no it was very sore heels. Iodine has sorted her out.

I use silver feet hoof balm thickly before turnout and noticed a huge improvement
