soft hooves!

my id x tb 6yr old mare has just recently got soft hooves i now we have had rain and the ground is wet but she has never had anything like this, the back of her hoof just underneth the heal has split away! the shoe is about half an inch of the hoof at the back of the shoe! her heels seem fine and she is in no pain she has a balanced diet and daily hoof care! i know tb hooves arent the best but just wonderd if anybody knew of anthing that may work better than what im doing now.

dunno if this will helpo but my farrier was telling me the other day (my vet told me this ages ago also) that you should never apply oil of any kind to a horses hoof (unless its for cosmetic reasons at a show) cos the oil prevents water getting in and out of the hoof. If hoof is holding water and you apply oil, the hoof will become soft as your describing. If you apply oil to a dry hoof, when it rains, the water will not be able to 'moisturise' the hoof. Farrier told me to start applying a hoof moisturiser (such as the carr&day&martin one).
