I purchased my first horse in May this year after having him on loan for 2 years. He has been lame for the past 4 weeks. He has previously suffered from low heels and was medicated in the coffin joint with remedial shoeing. We were unsure if the same problem has re-occured but I had farrier but corrective shoes on again. He was still lame after 2 weeks of wearing new shoes and so he went in to vets for further investigation. He improved slightly to block in his coffin joint and x-rays were taken. I am to collect him today but they have removed one of his shoes ? Will this increase his problems and should I ask for him to be re-shod ? The next stage is MRI scan but I am not sure about this or to try and give him a few more weeks with the remedial shoeing.
