Off we went on Saturday to do the BE100(o) at Somerford.
This is my first time competing at Somerford even though it's my nearest event and it is also the first time for my horse and me to compete together as a combination. He has competed up to Advanced which is way beyond me, I'll just be happy to get to Novice some day in the future
Dressage -
I have discovered my boy lights up on grass so got on with 40mins to go, now when I say he was lit up that is an understatement. General squealing, rocking, jumping and cavorting happened for the full warm up and test. It was containable enough to keep out of the way of others but I couldn't tell him off as it wasn't naughty just excitement. The judges comments ranged from 'very jolly' to 'we'll sat'
so I was pleased with 37.5
Showjumping - I have been practicing this over the winter trying to improve my position and give with my hands, UNO was a total rockstar and did a fast yet clean clear round, he was still excited but totally focused.

Cross country - I was so very nervous after walking the course, but he was a total pro taking in the large ditch, and big drop to a skinny. It was a fabulous ride on what was a very wet day. I know he is more than competent at this level but he still enjoyed himself immensely, for the first time in a long time I went round the course feeling positive and it's all thanks to the smiling, over enthusiastic warmblood friend

No placing due to the ASBO behaviour in the dressage, but a nice positive start to my season for once
