I am wanting to see if I can improve the grass in my field - heavy clay soil. The fields were fertilised this year for the first time in ages and a slight improvement. There are a lot of buttercups and weeds in the grass, but before spraying I wanted to get a soil sample in case the soil was not right.

Can folks tell me who/what they use for this and can anyone recommend a good field maintenance company in the Harlow area of Essex please.

Sorry, don't have anyone to recommend but will be interested to see replies as this is something I've also been thinking about doing - if it's not too expensive. (No real reason so don't want to be paying tons! I'd be interested to see results though and it should be useful for future field maintainance.)

Regarding the buttercups I've always been told they like acid soils - along with many other weeds - so an abundance of them often means the field could do with liming.
