Can anyone recommend some good solar lights that are suitable for stables. Am also investigating windmill kits but they look a lot more expensive

I have been looking at the solar mate light kits on the internet and think that the solarmate II looks a good option ?

We have a new stable block and the YEB want £18k to run power across the lane from the house so its not an option to put mains on.

My mum's got no electric at her place.

She has rigged up some 12V lights (like you get in horseboxes\caravans etc), and runs them off a couple of 12 lorry batteries. There are then loads of ways to charge the car batteries, from a solar panel or small windmill on the stable roof, to one of those fast charge car thingies.

Mum takes hers home and charges them in the garage. They last about a week.

I have solar security lights from the Organic Gardening Cataloque - they are very good. They also sell shed lights.

Try solar kits direct, they are very helpful. We just bought a few of their shed lights and they are fine for doing a rug change or skip out, not enough for the vet to see by if you get my drift but easy to fit and adequate. They do much bigger kits if you want
