Does anyone have experience of these systems? I'm thinking of getting a Hotline Helios energiser/battery/solar panel system. It would be used year round, performance isn't important in the winter as then it will just be used as a visual reminder of the post and rail fencing and thick (horse-proof) hedges. In the summer i will be splitting the paddock so will need the energiser to have enough power to make the fence an active deterrent.

I added the solar panel from Robinsons to my system, been using it for three years and have never had to recharge my battery. It has enough snap even through the winter to stop my fairly rude bunch from escaping.

We had solar panels fitted to our normal batteries cheaper than going the other routes. The panels cost us about £50. So much better but make sure no nibblers can get to them!!

Tip with any electric fencer put thin cables, to earth and fence, in old hoes pipe prevents bunnies eating it, we bought solar fenders from fearing international and pleased with them.
