Solar Powered Fence Energisers

Are they any good? I need to power just under 200m of tape and there is a Gallagher S17 solar powered fence energiser for sale locally, used twice for £125 so I am wondering how good these units are for keeping the current strong through the winter? Any advice greatly appreciated as I really need an energiser quickly and Molly will take the mick the moment the current goes.

Had for 18 months, stopped Houdini cob excaping from 3 lines of fencing!
Love it, and gives a fair old whack! I bought the mounting post as well to keep it off the floor in case of earthing, was about another £10 I think from memory.

These are nice little units but at 0.17 Joules stored they do not have a lot of power , for one roll of tape you will be fine but don't expect to go miles with it .
Also I would ask how old the unit is . The batteries it uses are gel type and they really don't like going flat they have to be stored charged or they will not have much duration. If you don't have to have solar there are a lot of other units out there.
