So I'm starting to think about winter and I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used solar powered lights to light an arena? We have a 40x20m arena and I'd love to be able to carry on schooling after work over the winter months!

There are lots available on eBay/ amazon etc but I have no idea if they're any good!

Any help much appreciated :)

Thanks

Hmmm, we had a cheapie bang-on-the-wall type of solar-powered light for the tack room.

We put the energiser unit on a wall which had plenty of sunshine.

It was OK....... for a while; and then the batteries ran out. We then discovered that it wasn't easy to buy replacement batteries .... and it was actually cheaper to replace the whole blessed unit.

Also the light it produced wasn't terribly bright and didn't stay on for very long, so a bit of a pain. The light was rather pale and insipid and OK wasn't meant to power a big area like an arena, and OK so the technology might have moved on by now.

But personally I wouldn't want to be @ssed with solar lighting for a big space like an arena; but then again, perhaps I shouldn't let the experience with a p!ddly little cheapo tack-room light affect my judgement.
