I was there both days this time, and stabled, as had one in PN and one in intro. Here's my intro "summary"

This was C's 3rd BE event, and after doing the Gt Witchingham *massive* Intro, I couldn't see there being anything at Solihull which he'd struggle with [fatal last words I believe...?]

Was a bit of a bugger warming up for the dressage, leaning, not settling, just being a general pain in the ar*e. Saw & spoke briefly Timefaulter, and have decided that if I could shorten his horses legs, I could use it for C's dressage and no-one would ever know!

Anyway, C went in and settled a little bit better. A bug went in his ear for his 2nd canter, so you can imagine what happened there

All in all a very deserved 44.
Went onto the SJ. All I can say is the SJ was carnage. Hardly any clears at all from what I'd heard, poles dropping with a tap. Only 11 clears in our section. Well anyway, C warmed up fantastically, over jumping everything, not making it seem difficult in any shape or form. Well. You can watch my round. Please do forgive mum's wobbly filming - she gets V nervous watching me go, and this is actually good footage for her!!

Then onto XC. Warmed up well, bit sticky over the chase at F1, jumped the logs at F2, got a growl at the house at F3. Then left handed down a step at F4, then three C strides to a step up, 2 strides to a skinny-ish roll top. [F5ab] Then it was swing right handed over a potata box at F6. It was what P stopped at in the spring event, so a little reminder that yes, I did expect him to jump it, and off we went. Rode strongly into F7, a big wooden sun lounger with inflatable balls on it [behave!] and towels. Jumped it, was a bit looky at the ramp into water, then it was out over a log. Supposedly.

C and I came a cropper last week when I asked him for a long one practising doubles in the field. He failed to take off, got his legs caught in the filler, upended himself [and me] and we slid almost under the 2nd element. So when I asked him for a long one to the log [which was the same height and not as inviting as the PN one] he told me to s*d off he wasn't doing that again. Cue

face from me and V determined riding to jump it on second attempt.

Sticky into the sheep feeder at 9 - he was doing 3 time changes all the way in! Vocal encouragement and we popped it, but F10 the ditch took him by surprise. The way he jumped it you'd've thought there was something in it going to eat him! Left handed after the ditch to a palisade with a brush. I asked for a long one, cue his lack of confidence. So another stop there.

By this point I'd realised what had happened, and was kicking myself for being so complacent. I guess I'd just thought he'd be okay as he'd gone BSJA and been placed last week. So I was V cross. So anyway, we jumped the brush at 11 second time, then it was a corner at 12, which he did like a pro. Then through some gross mud and up a sharp incline to "thomas the tank" and he popped that. Gallop up the hill to a lamb creep with flowers into the dark, which he did nicely, then through the trees and out over the trakehner, which he did like it was NOTHING. Then down the step, up an incline to another skinny, which he did nicely, then the green and white worm to finish. Little sticky, but jumped it well.

He didn't feel like the height was any problem, just lacking in confidence a little.

He's entered for his first PN at Winkburn, so am taking him XC schooling before hand just to reinforce to him that he can do it.

Very proud of my little pony, as there were problems all over the place. Had I have ridden like I should have, he would have been 10th.

Ben and Jerry's if you got this far - I must stop doing morning reports because you all miss out on your wine
