Does anyone use these? OH's mare has a big bushy ID mane, and it needs taming, she will let me pull the half nearer her wither, but just shakes her head like mad when I try to do the top bit! Don't want to twitch etc as she is already headshy and just learning to trust us, so would be v reluctant to risk that progress!
Any good/bad experiences with them?

I am now a convert to these, I bought one a month or so ago and did both horses manes with it, and they look fab, not 'cut' at all which is what I was worried about.

I highly recommend them.

Oh fab, glad they work ok! Will get one soon. Do you push the hair back and cut at the root? That would thin as well wouldnt it?

I love mine! For my TB fine haired mare I don't cut at the root otherwise she'd have no mane left at all lol but for the bushy haired TBx gelding I do cut at the root. I also use thinning scissors on his, I brush his mane over to the other side and go through it with the thinning scissors. I also find that chopping into it with scissors on the ends can help if you get a bit of a 'cut' effect! My gelding was pathetically thin with an overgrown neglected mane when he arrived in Jan, he is now looking much better with weight on and a smart haircut!!
