solo combs

i cut my mares mane the other nite and well as you can imagine its stayed rather thick. i want to thin it out a bit and wonder if a solo comb was the answer. it doesnt look cut but you can tell it hasnt been pulled to the length its at! only prob is that my mare doesnt even like having her mane back-combed and i think you have to do that with a solo comb. any other ideas on thining out a mane - without the pain!

Could you try using a thining comb - I think they are like a razor that you just brush through the hair which thins it out.

Brush over to the other side of her neck then thin out by combing a tail rake through it. Painless and quick! But go slowly, they are easy to be overenthusiastic with!

Yeah, the Smart Tails mane rake is excellent. I use a solo comb to shorten and the rake to thin. Careful with a thick mane though or you'll blunt the blade pretty quick!
