Am not really 100% sure why these days I have such a problem with it.
I used to and be very happy about it, slightly bored beause much nicer to have a gossipy ride around, but in the last few years it isn't something I have done, usually because there is always someone else at any yard to ride out with.
I have moved yards recently and an old friend is about a mile away from my new yard. Last Sunday we were meant to have a lesson together at her arena and she was to collect us. Her horse had a severe napping episode up her drive for some reason and the instructor came over to me and we had a session of hacking up and down the road which is very busy alone.
He was actually very good after initial napping episode and passed both ways past the entrance.
Am going to take YO's small daughter who has a pretty nappy pony to the arena tomorrow - I do know that most of it is down to me - I need to be absolutely 100% positive and forward and concentrate on him 110% to get him moving - the yard move has upset and unsettled him as he is quite sensitive beneath the thuggish exterior!!!
Any tips?
