Some advice about lame pony please...

Went out for a brilliant hack on Sunday and went very fast! Unfortunately as we came through a boggy bit C lost a shoe. It was a little loose as i was one week over due

( feel terrible now- honestly thought it would be OK).

So we walked back along the roads and he was fine. Sore over stones but that is what i would expect from a normally shod horse.

Farrier came up today to put shoe back on ( C hasn't been ridden since just in field) and then turned him out. Got a call from YO tonight to say he is still lame. He is on full livery so i haven't seen him since Sunday. We are going to trot him up in the morning and if he is lame farrier will take shoe off and we will poultice.

I feel terrible for not seeing him but i have been so busy- the reason he is on livery. Anyway just asking for opinions, we think he may have bruised his sole a bit when the shoe came off. I am not sure if i should be thinking anything else? If he is not right after poultice i will call vet- would you call sooner?

is there heat in any other part of the leg ? rule that out first

check for stones in the sole of the hoof

could just be a case of a bruised sole and may just need rest,
Would get your farrier to do a pinching on the sole and see if he is sore
 
TBH i haven't seen him but i am going up tomorrow to see him so will check. I doubt it is a stone as farrier was the one who told YO to call me so i would think he would have checked- will def look though. Thank you

I went to see him the following morning and trotted him up. He was much a better so we think it was a bruised sole as he is 100% sound today!
