I had a lesson yesterday with Markus Bauer, it was fab. But I'm now slightly confused and wondered if you guys on here could help!!

Axel is naturally left bended, and has therefore made me sit on him left bended too, so on the right rein I struggle to get him to bend through his whole body. So firstly I need to get my position correct and with me sitting to the right.
Easier said than done! I'm really struggling with this and always seem to end up with my right leg too far back and my left leg too far forward (on the right rein). I know what I need to be doing, but I find it very difficult.
Markus was being very nice and even drew me a picture of what I need to be doing but it feels very strange and its hard!! Although he did say that its become a habit, and if it feels wrong then its right!
Any advice? Are there any exercises I can do that will make me sit to the right?

Thanks

It was quite funny though, in canter I was sitting to the inside really well, and then suddenly I shifted my weight to the ouside, and Axey did a flying change

Markus was very impressed!!!

Read the Mary Wanless book - Ride With Your Mind, she deals with body positioning in a very clear & concise fashion. It improved my riding no end & that was without going for lessons at all. I'm a huge fan.

I have been having the same issue which I thought was my new saddle slipping to the right, but now Im informed that I have always leaned that way! After a lesson with Carol Broad, she told me to keep all my weight in my left seatbone to the point where I felt unbalanced - this has stopped my mare becoming disunited, but only when I remember to do it! I write it on the back of my left hand when schooling in the hope that it will become habitual
