Our only means of transporting horses/picking up stray horses has been stolen.
Old rice dark green double full size trailer. Is metal but with a brown wooden ramp. One of the mudguards is held up with blue bailer twine. Sat night/Sun morning stolen.
Will put more details later.

Have you been on to the local press about this? Not sure what yours is like but when something gets stolen from a charity etc round here they give it a lot of coverage!.

Thankyou. Words of support do help. Stops me thinking everyone is evil!!
We are lost without it. We get our hay and straw from another county in it as it is so cheap. We use it for jumble sales etc. We help those without transport and give lifts to vets in emergancy's never mind all the other things.
It was old but old work horse.

Had some info today,
The people next door to my field heard a 4x4 type sounding vehicle just after 2.00am Sunday morning. Their dogs were going banana's but they did not look out. I wish they had. At least they could have rang the police.
A knife was taken out of our caravan and was found at the top of the lane. Makes you wonder if they got it incase they were disturbed.
I did not expect the people to confront anyone but looking and ringing the police might have saved our trailer.

I can't believe they didn't look out!!! Didn't they think that someone was taking their own car etc?? I look out when I hear a stationary car at that time of the day and I live in a busy town centre!!

Have you been able to move your horses yet?

Do the Police circulate details of stolen trailers/lorries to other county forces? It's the New Forest Beaulieu Road pony sales tomorrow and several stolen trailers have been picked up there at previous sales, one had been stolen over 2 years ago and subsequently bought in good faith by someone else.

Edited to say that I have put a link to your post on NFED and asked people to keep an eye out for it at the Sales tomorrow . . .

Hope you get it back soon

Thankyou so much for doing that. I have posted stolen posters to all i could think of but i did not know about this.
To be honest Lincolnshire police are not good with stolen items.

I am so peeved they did not look. There house is like fork knocks so probably was not bothered. I am peeved as the theft could have been prevented.
We haven't moved the horses yet. We have moved all from the field where they were shot and Kiero leg masacred.
He was supposed to be going back to our field on Monday but we have no way of moveing him now.
We need to get 1 months deposit and 1 months rent in advance before we can move - £600. The harder we try the further away it seems.
We have had trouble at the fields they are in now. They were let out a week last Sunday and did a runner. Again the police only wanted my name and were not interested that someone had done it.
Some of the horses were extremely stressed but they are ok now.
We have supposed police protection over one of our rescues as he told the police he was going to do me over so i thought they would have more interest. I don't think it is him doing things though. He prefers to stab people.

I can't believe how pants the police are being about everything that has happened to you. I'm guessing they'll only do something if a human gets hurt and not before!

I really hope things start to look up for you soon. It's a pity you're not nearer to us, there's quite a lot of land available at our yard(sheep farmer would beg to differ!) and I would have that Shettie off your hands too!

Yes they do as far as they can and that is how the trailers and lorries have been recovered from the New Forest in the past, but they really need for people to mark their property and take note of serial numbers/chassis numbers and not trust to luck. Without numbers it is hard to place it on the Police recording systems nationwide.

Having had my old faithful taken I made damn sure they were not going to get the new one easily hence the post above http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3612967/an/0/page/0#3612967 with some measures I have taken since the theft.

The trouble is what makes our trailers unique to us is often not as visible to others as postcode marking and chassis numbers when looking to recover stolen goods and with resources scarce for everyone including the police how much effort do you expend looking for that dent behind the mudguard, or the chip out of the knob on the jockey wheel?

So please if you have a trailer and can't afford to loose it take some inexpensive steps to mark and protect it including photographs. If you have lost one contact your local horsewatch who will circulate it. You can put it on as many websites and forums as you can and in the Horse and hound as well, but the chances are it will not be recovered as 1, it will probably be resprayed and 2, if someone has parted with money for it they are unlikely to own up!

There seems to be an increase lately of equine equipment and trailer thefts so be aware and take care of all your gear including rugs (mark them too) and please don't buy stuff that is under priced from slippery characters as you will be adding to someone else’s misery!
