Took my girls to the yard yesterday morning to find out one of the old ponies was doubled up in pain

when the vet came he said he needed emergency surgery because of a blocked intestine

, the owners have no insurance or transport and the vets couldn't provide any so got my OH to come over to drive the lorry and we took him , the vets quoted £2500 - £3000 for the op and a 30% chance of survival and urged them to let them pts but they refused and he was operated on last night and has survived !! still very poorly but the vets are pleased with him so far

hopefully he will be ok , although their bank balance wont be

How kind of your OH to take him.
Hope he recovers well.
It is a real worry when they are too old to have insurance for vets bills.

Hope he goes on to recover, where did he go for the operation. My friends horse is in Avonvale and was operated on Christmas eve!I suppose her bill will be the same and hers is 17 years old ,doesn't bear thinking about, but hope they both recover
