Some more opinions please? Less controversial this time, I hope!

So, I have many deadlines looming so I decided to try my hand at video editing again. Please may I have some CC on the video only? :)

Be as harsh as you like. Not my type of music at all, but it got into my head when I was revising so I needed to get it out of my system somehow! Listening to it hundreds of times seems to do the trick :D

If you have comments about the rider, please keep them nice and remember I haven't asked for any CC- she has weekly dressage lessons, regular SJ lessons and attends monthly XC clinics. Every fault you see, she sees too and slates herself for it.

On a different note, Reg has cracked out his inner-dressage diva on a fairly high-level basis it seems and scored a 34 today eventing, his best at this level yet!

Looking rather well I reckon, for a cronk old ex-racer! Ears aren't back but are flopping- he can't multitask enough for 'working properly' and 'ears forward'... It's a boy thing ;)

And kisses for him, as he's such a pro now.

CC on his condition is also welcome- trying to get him to bulk up a bit more so he won't look too think in the show ring, but they're moving up to 1.10m ODEs so he can't carry any excess weight really! Reg says he'd be quite happy to carry the extra weight if it means he keeps getting lots of yummy food though :D

I really like this Clean Bandit track; its been stuck in my head too!

I like how you used dressage film when the Mozart part is at the fore.

I'm a tech dunce but I think your video looks good (as does Al).

I didn't have sound on, so can't comment on the music :p I did think that some of the effects were a bit too busy at times, the ones repeating the same jump quickly and flashing from black/white to colour again, I found them difficult to watch, I enjoyed the bits in slow motion. :)

My comments may be entirely irrelevant without the music on though. ;)

Love the music and agree about the Mozart and dressage going well!

The beginning hurts my eyes a bit, rather busy especially where they are going over the XC fences and there is a sort of transition effect like a camera shutter...Not a technical perspective, just me and my eyes!

The rest was good and the horses look great!

I especially like the jump-reverse-jump, they were cool :-)

Well done for the dressage, I know how frustrating it is with a horse that you know can go beautifully but not perform well in the arena. Fair play to Al for keeping on with reg, I've given up with Andy. :L

Can't comment on the video as I'm rubbish with that sort of thing but the horses look so good atm. I lovee Bee she reminds me of Louie so much. :)

You must be so proud of your lovely schoolmaster ;) :D

Songs great, but video is a bit jumpy, maybe half the amount of times a scenes jumps would make it easier to watch :) seems to be smoother as it goes on :) Just really at the start its a bit choppy
The horse in the pics looks great :D

I'm also not keen on the fast transitions at the beginning but it definitely improved after that when they slowed down and the music fitted it well. Personally I would not have the reverse shots but that is purely my taste.

Love the track - I think it has the potential to be great to edit to.

Honestly, I think the video is too "Mish-mash" though.

When I expected the clip to change in time with the music it didn't, and when it shouldn't have, it did. I also think there were too many effects.

Sorry, that sounded a bit brute!

Was this made on WMM?

I agree about the jumpy bit at the beginning maybe being a bit much, but I mainly wanted to comment about the lovely clip you have right at the end.

You can tell how much she adores Reg from that clip of her praising him :) It was heartwarming to watch!

I'd get rid of a lot of the fancy stuff, the reverse video and the stop start bits. The scenes change too quickly and don't give you chance to see anything properly. I think you've tried to put too much in there. If you want to put effects in perhaps try some slow motion shots.
I had to turn the sound off, I couldn't stand it.

I loved some of the slow-mo dressage footage, and the bit where you show the same jump three times, but I felt I wasn't sure what the story you are trying to tell was? Are these clips in chronological order? are they at different/the same events? At home? Is it a naughty horse come good? Or does it try it on every time out? Perhaps some text would help us understand the context a bit about who the horse and rider are and what they're about. For me some of the effects were a bit much, and it all felt a bit 'fast'. I appreciate this is probably mobile phone footage so difficult to get really great shot especially outdoors etc, but I think it would be a much nicer vid if you were a bit more selective and chose only the really good clips for the final edit. You can make more of them with a bit more slow-mo I think.
Are you doing another version? Look forward to seeing it!
As the the rider, I thought she was fab, and jealous of her 'stick ability' :)

It's good, it's a good improvements on previous editing too. It's a bit out of time in places - if your RAM's a bit low you might have trouble with in software playback affecting how it looks / preventing you getting it into time. Sometimes it's a question of rendering / playing back in WMV then re-editing, which is a pest, but you need a lot of power to edit fast videos and have accurate playback in the software.

The "jumpiness" is in theme with the style and it works well enough. Not a masive fan of the repeating clip around 26s with the different effects - effects either have to be subtle or really awesome, in my opinion. Hard as it's tempting to use pre-sets in the software, but they rarely look "great" unless they really fit with the whole video. Other bits around that section work nicely though, in my opinion.

Y'all know I think Al is fab, though so no need to cc there ;)

Probs can't say much more than others have said, some interesting footage, but not fond of the colour inverse.
Didn't think the music matched the footage, also is the music under copywrite? For such things as this that i've done, i've made my own music using the a kids program, 'super dooper music looper' which i bought for £3, and is great for producing copywrite free music.
Also, if you are using wmm, consider using a title, so the audience is given an idea of what to expect.

I like that song, it's different.

I liked the slow-mo jumping (it's actually quite useful for having a good look at your position, in real time it's "overthejumpanddone". Not so keen on the funny colour filter though. I quite liked the mirrored image you had :)

I wouldn't even know where to start with editing!

My attention span is too small to watch videos, sorry, but I flicked through it and thought it was quite good.

I mostly just wanted to say.... tuuuuuuuuuuuunnne!!!

I thought it was a bit busy as well. Also I don't like the speeded up bits or the backwards bits because they're not flattering to the horses... if you see what I mean. Some v clever effects, but maybe not suited to 'showing' horses.
I'm a boring old fart though :)

Thank you for all your comments- it's a long old video so I'm really grateful that so many of you have watched it and replied in such depth!

The reversing/ repetition were my (pitiful!) attempts to mirror the music :) In terms of a story, I wasn't really aiming for one, more just a random mish mash of stuff- I do a 'story' one at the end of the year for Al which is fully chronological and has proper captions and stuff, and much more my 'type' of music :) (I'm a Newton Faulkner/ King Charles/ Imagine Dragons/ Bellowhead type person!)

I really really like videos that do a 'story', but I have no idea what Newton Faulkner etc is (did I mention Boring Old Fart? :p )

You'll like the '2 years of Somethings Up' one on her channel then- made it back in 2011, and my god they've come on since. But I love watching it and remembering back to the early days- they have come so far. Sometimes though, when you look into what CAN be achieved, it's hard to remember exactly what's been done already.
