Went out with my 9 year old daughter and 3 dogs for a nice long walk. Should've been pretty uneventful but turned into something else.
We were walking past some houses when this jack russell jumped out over the fence from it's garden. 1st off it got hung up on the fence by it's paw, wriggled free then tried to attack 1 of my dogs!
I nudged it off with my leg, which happened to nudge it onto the road, no cars were around, not that i was concerned about that at the time, i just wanted it away from my dogs.
His owner came out, grabbed up the dog, apologised and we went on our way. Thankfully none of my lot were hurt.
Anyway out comes the female owner and starts shouting and swearing at me from up the street about how i shoved her dog onto the road!!!!!
I replied back about how she should have her dog under proper control and so what if i shoved the dog, it was going for 1 of mine at the time. What did she expect me to do, just stand there and let it attack my dog?
Wasn't quite as politely worded as that, but i was rather peed off at that moment.

Nudged it I would have probably kicked it, her dog wasn't under control and jumped out, what if it just jumped out in front of a car, would probably be the drivers fault.
Think people have to take responsibility for their dogs.

if it had come back for another go it would've probably got a kick that time.
I'll remember your comment about the car if I bump into her again, it's a very good point :)

We had this recently- adolescent lab scaled its 5 bar gate at the front of its house with ease and then proceeded to have a go at all 4 dogs I was with- settled on the smallest before feeling my boot......

Only saving grace was that the Ridgeback it was with stayed the right side of the gate!!

That's a scary thought, the lab would've been bad enough. Hope you got an apology from the dog's owner and none of your dogs or you got hurt :)

Quite- they did come out when they heard all the barking etc, and called the dog. We just said "just so you know I kicked it to prevent it biting the little dog- who is dog fearful anyway"... he was very apologetic!

Silly woman!

I had a similar thing with two Border Collies down the road. When we rode past they would jump over the gate and attack the horses, barking and going for their heels.

My horses took no notice of it but friends daughter took a nasty fall because of them
I called the woman and told her to keep her dogs in and that if she didn't control them I would. I was told where to go and that the dogs were 'only playing'.

A couple of days later I rode past and when the dogs jumped out, and the woman was there and never did a thing to correct them, so I gave them the lash end of my hunting whip. They soon jumped back in! The woman never said a word but they put up a higher fence to keep them in the back garden.

Oh definitely, ive actually been told off for picking a young lab from the road and giving it back to the owners..

''hello, excuse me, is this your dog, he was on the road'

'And? he is always out there. why is it your business'

'well, he just ran in front of my car, my dad nearly hit him'

'well you shoudve been driving carefuller, leave my dog and gerrout of it'

... i was gobsmacked, poor dog died in the owners car after it set on fire a couple of months later, really sad, owners are local scumbags.

Good for you and glad they got it sorted, albeit a bit late, but better late than never.
Would the police or local dog warden not have done something about?
More wondering for future reference after talking to some local people round here about the JRT incident today, it's not the 1st time the dog has escaped and went for another dog :( In fact they have 2 JRT's and they both went for another dog who was walking past.

OMG that's horrible. poor dog :( Wish they would make it compulsary to have some sort of license to keep pets and some sort of vetting and test process before handing them out.
