You have a lovely dog in, someone nags and nags you saying they want to give it a home, then finally you give in and let them have the dog.

Then a few weeks later you get a message on your phone... "hi it's X, I think you can have this ******* dog back, I have taken it for a walk and now I cant ******** catch it, the little ******** is standing about 8 feet away from me just staying out of reach all the time, I have been in this ********* wood about 2 hours now, I dont know what to ********* do, I cannot catch the little ********* at all, can you ring me if you get this message please"

:o

Luckily Cala was very nice to me and calmed me down when she phoned me back :p and suggested lots of possible ideas on how I might catch Amy :p Sadly none of them worked, so we ended up walking 1/4 mile down the lane to get home with Amy trotting about 8 feet in front of me off the lead, glancing over her shoulder every so often to check I was still the same distance away, and me having hysterics the whole time as the lane is very twisty and I was convinced a car was going to come round the corner too fast and hit her....

We got back safe and sound, Amy trotted in through the front door after me and lay down on her bed like nothing had ever happened :D:D:D:D:D

The moral of this story: when your three greyhounds take off after a roe deer (which they nearly caught ) dont be too pleased when they come back to call pretty much straight away. The real challenge is to get them all back ON THE LEAD :p

I was due for an appt at the local beauty salon so I had to ring them and say I might be late, they were laughing their socks off when I turned up :D:D

So, lots of treats, walks on leads for the next couple of weeks, and some one-to-one long line training around the woods for Amy....:)

ROFL!!!!!!! :D :D I can just imagine the entire scene, including Cayla and her choice of probable words echoing down the phone to you! :p :D

Oh dear God...I have such a vivid mental issue and I'm sorry to say I'm sniggering.

She's just trying to tell you she's a proper grown up doggie and doesn't need a lead at all! :p ;)

Ok, you know your previous post about Amy being coursed and what a flamin nuisance it was? Well, there is a positive to it!!! The hound I walk that is coursed by the older bitch was also a rescue, very bright, got some collie in her, but a bugger with being caught!! Recall is fine in that she will come back immediately but about 6 feet away, the moment you walk towards her, she trots off. What I now do is recall her, then let the bully bitch off - young bitch promptly trots towards me, tail between legs and all that. Might work:D

She missed a very important part out of that

I PHONED CAYLA EFFING AND BLINDING AND SAYING SUMMIT ABOUT A GRANNIES TIT:confused:
AND

Poor cayla was "IN BED" off night shift:rolleyes:
THAN poor Cayla gets a call from her sister to say "my dog has ran off again" could u get himback please:eek:

Cayla...."leaves to head for a break down"....and adds, neither of the thick bints had any form of treat on them:mad::rolleyes:

Thing is I would love to swap u for a true problem dog......"TIA".......she has fab recall, it may be with a j.r.t in her gob, but she will return:rolleyes:

I tried that BS - let the other two off, put them back on the leads, let them off again.... nope! They all have very different behaviour in the woods where this happened to in the paddocks where the other two course Amy

PMSL - I knew I would get it in the neck about you being asleep, I thought it would be OK since it was quarter past 4 in the afternoon that I called ;)

Tia sounds awesome, I bet she would have come back with the roe deer not let it escape like my three did :D

ETA - huh? Cant remember what I said, but it wasnt this..."SAYING SUMMIT ABOUT A GRANNIES TIT:"????

Well......when! u dont go to bed till 12 in the afternoon of a 15 hour shift:mad::rolleyes:

Oh yeah tia would have caught it, even if it took her all day and she would have eaten half of it before brining it back cos she ravages the dead animal down her gob to stop any other dog getting it.

WHt u moaning about......who else can say they have a greyhound they can walk off lead along a road:rolleyes: not many....PMSL:D:D

I have the recording u bint.....it says summit about her walking alone like a "saggy grannies tit" goes off to listen to Gazeys silly moaning message.........and all because she was wanting to get to an appointment for a fanny wax:eek:

PMSL patches...you have a vivid mental issue?!!! You mean image, right?! :p :D

PMSL! What a typo to make!

Yes, I can confirm I did mean image. Although, I will fully understand why some of you will think my original post is probably more apt. :D

Got it! I have just thought back about what I was ranting... I said it was like playing a game of 'grandmothers footsteps' :D :D :D

Glad I sorted that one out :p

I am absolutely p*ssing myself at this post :D

Could you not have put Cayla on speakerphone and got her to use her 'special' voice on Amy?? :D Dogs for miles around would have suddenly started behaving (including Otto hopefully!) :D

She was not even listening to me (or was that the other way around, and I was not listening to her:D, I was half a f****** sleep after all:mad:.... she kept going on about being late for said fanny wax:eek::rolleyes:

Thanks for the laugh ladies to set me up for work this morning.:D I do feel your pain Gazey, nothing worse than the little dears dancing around just out of reach. A good stock of liver might do the trip, just don't forget to take it out of your pocket, gets a bit smelly after a while as I have found. :( Also don't know how easy it is to teach skinny dogs to go down, but sometimes you can get a dog to go down at a distance and stay, even if it won't come back to you.

Snort.

Roly tries that sometimes, when he is feeling particularly trixy - but I know that feeling of abject panic, when you think "will I ever catch them?"

Thankfully now I have it nailed, but damn it annoyed me!

Gazey, have you tried rolling round on your back waving your legs in the air? I mean not for this problem, just generally :D :D :D
