We had the first shoot of the season on Saturday, and - thanks to Weevil and Sunflower for looking after the Poplets - we were able to make it up to Lincs to take part, and a great time we had too!
Popple, as per usual, was too excited to eat her supper when we arrived on Friday night
She knew what she was there for, and was up early, super sharp and keen on Saturday morning
(Although, still refusing to eat!)
We had a fab day, and I was soooooo proud of Pops
She's grown up a lot since last season, and I felt it showed. My highlight has to be when we worked the drive coming up to, and including, the pond. Although we were putting up, Pops happily handed me a HUGE pheasant (seriously, it was nearly the same weight as her!!) and also then worked in the water like a pro (last season she wasn't so confident about going in). A couple of times she circled back to the far corner of the pond, so as to get the ducks back up in the right direction, and I had to do a double take at the way she was bounding into the water. At first glance I thought she was one of the Cockers Xs that was out with us!! Needless to say, she got a lot of praise and compliments from those who saw!
It was a very tiring day, with all the fresh air and exercise (crikey the cover was thick and hard going!) and we were suitably rewarded at Lunchtime when we had a hog roast, from which Popple did rather well in scraps
We also, on Saturday night, as it had been one of my cousin's birthdays, had an awful lots of champers and a delicious salmon supper - so needless to say, I slept like a log on Saturday night!!
I ache all over today, but it was a super weekend. Monday has come around all too soon. I just hope I can keep on top of the uni work to go again soon/next time, as it's so nice to get away from town, and out in the countryside. I've not really any pics of the shoot in action, just a few between drives and then some the next day of our morning walk - which my cousin's little dog, Zeiko, joined us for. Like Pops, he is half patterdale, and you can see the similarity.
Poised, ready to go (the lead is wrong, Oops, but we were only stood still):
It was blooming hard work marching up this ploughed field!!
Heading back for Lunch:
Still lots of wag left in the tail!!
And some from our walk the next day, when I'd a little more time to take pics:
Popple running along the edge of the ha-ha, and Zeiko in the field:
The dogs were actually in sight when I took this, but you can't see it on the pic,
Zeiko:
We went for a little paddle in the stream:
Or in Popple's case, a big jump of it!!!!
Zeiko:
Popple:
A very convenient place for cleaning your boots:
Ta daaa:
Thanks for looking
