The horses have been in today and I was mucking out around them as they ate their tea this evening.

Every time I moved the barrow from the doorway Blue would stop eating and look at me. Thought it was odd but thought he was worried about the barrow being moved about around him.

I went out of the stable to get a broom leaving the large two wheeled barrow in the stable doorway.

Blue only picked up one of the handles in his mouth, pushed the barrow out of the door, put it gently down and walked out!

Little b*gger! Next time I see him watching me so intently I will be on my guard!
 
Ha ha Bless him! Atleast he was kind enough to move it! My youngster once decided that she couldn't possible wait to come in her stable as she was tied outside in the snow so barged straight through the wheelbarrow, scared herself and knocked all the poo in it onto the floor!!! x

HAHA! We have those gate guards at out yard (the plastic one bar flexi ones) and one of the horses used to literally squat down and wriggle underneath it as soon as you pushed the barrow away from the stable. We nicknamed him ' Limbo'. I love their little quirks!
 
Cappy is a b*gger, I have to warn any staff never to leave any tools or the wheelbarrow anywhere near his stable, he loves to wait until your back is turned and the throw the tools across the barn, he even throws the wheel barrow.

He will let himself out of his stable and then go and let every horse on the yard out! Hence I am paranoid about staff leaving his kick lock off, he will go months without trying to open his door, then he will do it.

Another thing he throws is his restrictor for his lick, he does not like it on so he gets it off, which is more than I can do, and throws it out the stable.

It all makes him fun to live with!
 
Mine has now figured out EXACTLY how to open his stable door. It takes him less than a minute. Thank god it has a kick bold, and tonight I have added a trigger clip onto the bolt to stop the little sod! He's an arab tho and has always been a bit too clever for his own good!
 
My two boys have both done that. Lloyd a 16.3 WBX did something similar, when I worked as a groom, only he was nice and climbed over the wheelbarrow , leaving it full instead of the mess my boys leave behind. It was like watching the great escape, I've never seen anything like it before!
 
candys favourite trick at the moment is to help with the poo picking.He comes straight over as soon as he sees the poo picking shovel thing and steals it,then drops it on the other side of the field and waits for you to go and get it.Meanwhile he will go over to the wheelbarrow and grab the handles and tip it over.It can be very annoying,although it is funny.

He loves picking things up and throwing them at me too, bricks, forks, feed buckets, and he even tried to pick the sledge hammer up when we were putting the fence posts in but that was too heavy!

I love quirky horses!

my new forest foal learnt in about a week that he could grab the plastic gate handle on the elec fencing, carefully unhook it and then throw it to one side before making an exit.

he also grabs the posts in his mouth and uproots them, and he listens for the tick of the elec fence to know when its on!!

he also stamps his feet in the water to break the ice himself, doesnt bother waiting for me to do it!!

If he can he will pluck them out of the ground using his teeth, then stamp on them.

Water buckets in stables = toy to be tipped over.

Poo picking in the field = muck barrow emptying game, followed by person harrassment game

Staying in sliding door stable whilst on holidays = the escape and eat everybody's breakfast race against neighbour
