I have seen a lovely 5yr old cob for sale 14.2 and green. He is only advertised at 500 pound and I really want him lol.

Somebody please talk me out of it already have a 19yr old 15.2 that still in full work and showing no signs of slowing down and I work full time :)

Please help before I pick up that phone :)

And in fact that's quite apt!! I have 2 and a full time job .... chucked them out in field naked today .... it took sooooo long to brush all of the mud off of 2 of them!! ;-)

Seriously though, Bos is the same age as Rebel was when I got Blue - it's not really much more work doing two of them. Bos gets an easier life and I'm sure he won't be too bothered by that!

Have you got the facilities/time/money etc to be able to do 2 horses justice?! I've seen the most adorable bargain! miniature horse for sale and I'd love him but the head is ruling the heart as I can only realistically have one - and I'm thankful and lucky to have him :p
 
Ok I have 5 of my own and one who is a lunatic when in company bought in to sell but staying here as he is, one who is coming on nicely to sell is a sweetheart, a baby selling next year and another who we have all fallen in love with and is going to be my mums next horse when her oldie is retired as he is a real sweetie perfect pony since broken worth a fortune as so good but is so nice he is staying was bought in to sell.

So that is 9 and counting if you really love the pony in the ad then buy it but it is not really cheap espc for a nervous pony it could take a long time to bring it right,for an unbroken pony of this type the price is not why you should buy, if you have fallen in love with it and think you really want it then buy it.

I often buy horses that I should not if I really like them and have a gut feeling and I have to say these ones usually turn out ok.
Sorry if I have not been any help but there are some you just must buy.
 
Depends on whether you have the time & money really. If you do I'd at least go & see him. That said, i've always been one to fall for what seem highly unlikely choices for what I want, I just tend to 'know' when its the right one, & so far its worked for me.
 
Hmm he's a bit cheap for a nicely marked cob. I wonder if they've struggled to back him and had a lot of problems so are trying to sell him as not been sat on. Common enough trick.

Plus they say he's five and nervous due to being barely handled. Not backed, but had a saddle on :rolleyes:. You say he's green, but it sounds like he actually hasn't done anything yet. A massive commitment, he looks a very strong lad and you'd be starting from scratch, at five years old.

Are you sure you want to take him on?

He'll be a real project and take up a lot of time, you'll prob find you won't have much time to ride your current one. I have 2, which works brilliantly as one is retired so don't have to worry re riding both. Chore wise it doesn't take much more time to do 2 plus they are good company for each other so I can keep myself to myself at the yard and not have to worry if one has been left out by itself for example. Go for it if you can afford it!
 
Thanks for all the replies. You have voiced most of my own concerns. Think my head has won over this one and I am going to wait until current horse is retired to would have more time to work with a new one
