Took the sprog to a ODE today and nothing seemed to go right for her. Did dressage and she seemed to feel it went well so went off to the showjumping feeling quite good. Pony literally fell over the first fence but luckily it stayed up and then he put in a very uncharacteristic stop skidding right into the jump demolishing it. Finished on 4 faults. Cross country they just could not seem to get into a rythm and he decided he needed a big poo just in front of a fence so ended up stopping and then she completely misjudged the line into an awkward bounce and missed the second part. At least she got round in one piece.
Still hopefully thought we might have a decent dressage to cheer us up but no not today. Possibly the most depressingly written dressage sheet I've ever read. Not one single positive comment even though she scored mostly 6 and 7's.
So I have one rather demoralised child on my hands as she had put a lot of hard work in preparing for today.
Still there is always next time!!!!!!!!

Stawberries and champagne to anyone who gets this far.

Just needed to vent frustration as I feel so sorry for her.

how annoying...ane more so re. the dressage, why can some judges not be at least a little optimistic!?!

Yes thats what I thought. It is just as helpful to know what you did right as to know what you did wrong. A bit of balance would be more constructive.

I do wish people would remember what an efffect their remarks can have on children/teenagers. Most of us adults can shrug it off but I know 2 children who have been put off competing recently because of thoughtless judges. Hope your daughter recovers from the disappointment.
