Due to pregnancy I've decided to give up my horses as I'm just struggling with them now (old boy needs 4/5 feeds a day to maintain weight and i just can't do it anymore) My little one is no trouble at all so i could technically keep her but i'm spending £30 a week on livery for her for her to just stand around doing nothing. As much as she loves this I'm sure she will love to be broken (she has been sat on already) and to be a little childs best friend! Luckily I have them both on loan so I don't have to worry about having to sell them etc.

I'm very much in need of a slap round the face with a wet fish and to be told I'm doing the right thing!

I think you're totally doing the right thing for both yourself and the horses. Once the baby's born you could always get back into riding if you wanted. Congratulations on the pregnancy btw :)

Sorry have no wet fish available but you are definately doing the right thing! If feeding him now is hard, doing it with a baby will finish you off. You need to concentrate on your new arrival and make the most of your time with him/her.
When I was pregnant I loaned my 2 geldings and just kept my old girl. 3 years on and the boys are still not back, its hard enough trying to muck out one with 2 toddlers in tow. Not to mention the money, childcare etc soon adds up.
Although I miss my leisurely horsey time, the kids will soon be at nursery and I might even be able to ride more than twice a month again! It flies by.

I presume you are giving away/selling your young one and having the old boy pts? Or is someone willing to take on your veteran?
If its right for you at this time then its the right decsion, i'm sure in time you and your new little human will get back into horses :p I'm not sure I could afford my horse and a baby! Both expensive buisnesses!! (not planning on small people atm so all is good!)

Sorry sorry just read they are loan idiot! Apologies!! Good luck with the pregnancy, maybe you could get little un' back when your little un' is big enough?!
