I needs to get my IDx looking more equine and less mammoth like....

can someone please suggest some good clippers that would tackle his extremely furry body.

How often do you clip and has anyone heard of the silent type clippers or ever used them?

Thank you

I really rate my Liveryman Calypso clippers - think they would be classed as medium use. I got them second hand and they have been fab - pretty lightweight and easy to use. I think they came with medium blades which were fine if you didn't want a really close finish, but if you're going for the non mammoth look then I suggest you get the fine blades instead.

Better be quick though - don't they say you should not clip after January??!!

I have got the moser Avalon clippers. Got them a good few years ago and they have been great. Think they cost around £160.

I've got Lister Lasers which are great and go through any coat, but they're quite bulky and heavy.

While they were in for repair (I dropped them!), I borrowed friends clippers.

I REALLY liked the Lister Star clippers. Smaller and lighter than the Laser. Didn't throw hair back in my face like some others I borrowed (ancient Heinigers). I had to push them through the coat a little though, rather than them gliding through like my old Lasers.

I was also impressed with a friends' ebay purchase. They were unbranded but looked just like Heinigers heavy duty ones, and a snip at £60!
