What do I do, how do I join, what do I get etc? I am looking at the website but weighing it all up - seems there are different options ie. membership / registration??..........anyone a member / recommend etc? Have been told on numerous occasions that my boy is ideal for CHAPS, jumps / shows / dressage etc...

Hiya,

I have been showing my traditional cob for a few years now, and in that time i have been weighing up the pro's and con's of both CHAPS and BPSA (british skewbald and piebald association).

I made the decision to join the BSPA, as i felt they had more to offer, and they are much more helpful - some would say they are geared more to amateurs, but having just competed at there "World championship of colour" back in August, that couldn't be further from the truth.

I feel they have more to offer the more traditional types, and i have been spoilt for choice in classes.

You can also qualify for the RIHS through them too.

My other reason for joining them is the fact that there championship shows are closer to me - i'm from Southampton and the champs are held at the College EC, Nr Bedford. CHAPS champ's are held somewhere near Preston - far to far for me to travel.

So maybe it's a north south divide, but if i was you i'd look in to the BSPA
