I have given up on my farrier - his ego won't allow him to listen to me :( He insists on trimming the soles of my horse who has thin sensitive soles, despite being asked many times not to. So, I need someone who trims well - not fussed whether they are FRC or good trimmer. No egos need apply - I can feed for feet and maintain between trims and have a decent basic knowledge, I just need someone who can get us back on track and show me how to keep it there. I have done quite a bit since his last farrier trim in May and just need a professional to check it all. The one I had asked has a chronic back problem and is out of action, and the other one recommended is just out of my area and too busy to extend where she works.
Anyone you can recommend please?

I am sure there are a couple of UKNHCPs who cover Shropshire. I had an equine podiatrist out once but he was useless. On the subject of podiatrists, a few people have told me Richard Vialls is v good so might be worth a call (that isn't who came out to me).

I don't know any farriers in this area who are particularly "pro" BF. My horse has a break from shoes when I can each year which my farrier advocates, and he is great about not trimming the sole or frogs, or fiddling around too much with them. Great for a shoe break but not sure I'd use him if horse was BF full time.

I use Sun Forge (Matt). I have one shod and one unshod, he does a lovely job on both. He looks at my unshod one every time the other is shod but hardly ever touches her so he doesn't take away too much. He always says that she grows her own shoes and doesn't want messing with so usually just has a quick zip around the rough edges.
