Something keeps drawing back to this advert for horse for sale...

Eh? can't see the attraction - sorry!

IMO it's a horrible ad, bad photo, no pics of it tacked up or being ridden - I wouldn't have looked at that twice

I know nothing about American Saddlebreds - but is that a good example

Its hard to tell from the terrible angle of the picture, any horse can look better with TLC and correct muscles, but there is something not quite correct about him, but I cant put my finger on it

to the OP, I'm with you on this. I would perhaps have given this wee horse a chance if the timing were right.

ASBs can and should look a bit rangy. They aren't meant to be chunky sorts, and this one is a bit on the lean side anyway. They should be elegant and swanlike. He needs a bit of TLC and if he's sound you might find yourself a rather nice horse under that hair and mud. Though if he were gaited, you might find yourself rather frustrated...but highly unlikely.

SamanthaG, think the "not quite rightness" you refer to is probably just his saddlebred-y look. It's not for everyone.

to me this is beautiful...to many it's freakish

It's very elegant when it is not produced by abuse such as soaring, shoe extensions & weighting shoes. Poor breed has suffered much over the years.

^^ I too think they are gorgeous and I think a bit of elbow grease will make it a different horse! :) A good age too... Would offer a bit less though...

Lovely face and there is something about him but...
1. something about his back
2. something about the way he is standing (front legs)
3. why is he still a bit green at 9?
4. is his stable he is tied up against? (weaving grille)

Overall I like him though. Ad doesn't actually say much about him - good in traffic? jump? But then again he is only £1k.
