After the accident hubby had at the weekend, I noticed that my WOW saddle was sitting low at the front on my fella on monday morning (hubby was riding in my WOW at the time of the fall).

I took the head plate out last night only to find that it had spread out by about 2 inches. The sheer force of him falling and skidding on the pommel had caused the plate to spread out rather than snap the saddle arch itself. (bearing in mind Bob weighs over 750kgs and is well over 17hh of flying gorgeousness).

My WOW fitter has given me another head plate for it but basically the fact it spread saved any injury to the bony wither area and his shoulder muscles.... as well as saved the saddle.

A traditional saddle would most certainly have broken.

Sorry -waffling really but cant believe Ive actually avoided paying out more money for once!

Indeed, i can believe it MR.

Friend has a nice traditional saddle. Said combination went out for a hack wtih friends and pony reared up and over. The saddle was a write off and poor pony smashed her withers completely and now has none

So just goes to show!

What was the verdict from the hospital?

Absolutely! Hubby did his dressage in it first and sat some humungous bucks (hence his score as all the canter work was "naughtied" up!).

Its got interchangeable everything and absorbs shock - from both under and above the saddle. Because its air filled you dont need to change flaps to ride at different length leathers although you can do if you want to. Hubby just puts the leathers on the back stirrup bars for dressage and on the front ones for jumping.

Its actually my saddle for my fella - he suffers from navicular and as a result is very fussy about extra pressure on his shoulders. I tried treeless saddles but they werent stable enough. The WOW has been amazing for both of us...and has now proved its weight in gold for hubby and his horse too...

Im always offering but if anyone lives local to me, please shout if you'd like to try it. Tis a thing of beauty! Luckily it cleaned up ok otherwise I would be hiding the pain killers until hubby buys me a new one.... there isnt a mark on it which is amazing.

It is a total AC seperation. Hes still in a sling and very sore -especially trying to sleep at night (infact he asleep on a pile of cushions on the sofa as we speak). Hes got to keep it immobile for a week and then he has to start going to physio. They wont give him any prognosis. If it doesnt heal within 6 months they will operate and pull some soft tissue over the end of the bone(oafter shaving it down a bit) and then stitch it all down.

What a pants summer we will have this year........

Oh yes... I see your problem.
Father was meant to rest after his heart attack for months... he was back working on a building site within 2 wks.

You may have to surgically stitch him to a chair
